The article presents the circumstances involved in the exhibition of the landscape in the context of museums. It intends to analyze the development of the virtual museum addressing the theme of landscape. Virtuality is a place of reflection and diffusion of the landscape, which plays an increasingly relevant and challenging role for artists and curators. Indirect experience with the territory. The moving of elements from the outside to the virtual world sets out challenges that need to be analyzed. Interaction between subject and scenery may result in reinvention through the intermediation of the digital platforms. In addition, through the diffusion of contents and data, there is the possibility of producing artistic works that act through sensitive and intelligible aspects, expanding the contact with the public. The objectives of this article are: to analyze the role of intermediated experience and its implications in the expansion of the notions of phenomenology proposed by Husserl and, in particular, of Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology of perception; to evaluate the role of the virtual world when accessing the museological space that focuses the landscape; and to propose that the virtual world expands the notion of a museum regarding landscape as in the case of the Landscape Museum (www.museudapaisagem.pt).
