EMANCIPATION IN THE HEART OF THE AMAZON: WOMEN'S MOVEMENT OF THE FOREST OF TEFÉ - AMAZONAS

Abstract

This work is an excerpt from a master's degree research carried out in the Tefé National Forest – FLONA. Who aims to address the issue of the women's organization process at FLONA Tefé – Amazonas, through bibliographical research and field work, we evidence that the women of Flona have a unique trajectory, marked by struggles and setbacks, by achievements and victories which are the result of resistance against an unjust and oppressive system, as well as persistence in fighting for a dignified life for all people who live in the midst of forests and waters. Through research, it is verified that, in many communities in that unit of conservation, women actually lived in a situation of violence, exclusion and subjugation. The patriarchal and sexist mentality imposed on those women that their social place would be the private sphere, that is, the care of the home, the farm and the family. In this sense, this work restores the visibility of these women, who for a long time have been erased from the stories of the organization of their communities, their families and their own lives, and to them and for their well-being the organization was the way out to the emancipation.
